Training contents

1. Doctorate Training:

From 2000 to 2013, with the name of VIAP, the Institute has conducted the doctorate training specializing in Architectural Theory and History. Among 21 PhD candidates studying at VIAP (2013), 01 postgraduate candidate finished the research program and awarded the doctorate certificate.

Since 2013, after renaming as Vietnam Institute for Urban and Rural Planning, the Institute is applying for opening doctorate training speciality in regional and urban planning suitable for main research field of the Institute in regional, urban and rural planning.

1. Capacity enhancement Short-term training and professional training according to regular tasks assigned by Ministry of Construction:

Permitted by Ministry of Construction, since 2008, the Institute usually organizes refresher training courses for postgraduate students and employees in the fields of construction, planning, architecture and urban management with the assistance, research guidance, practice of professors, leading experts, as follows:

1. Construction execution supervision: civil, industry and technical infrastructure; Transportation; irrigation and Hydroelectricity facilities. 
2. Project and engineering construction investment management.
3. Construction bidding.
4. Brokerage, Valuation, Management and Execution of real estate trading floor.
5. The postgraduate special themes on architecture, planning, urban management and sustainable development.

Until October 2013, the Institute has trained and certified 1679 trainees of the above specialties.

Since 2015 so far, VIUP has been assigned by Ministry of Construction two regular tasks on professional training in the fields:

• Planning and planning management: regional planning, urban planning, planning for rural residential areas,  urban design, landscape
• Urban development: Urban development management, urban upgrading, urban development programs, housing development…
• Planning and infrastructure development: Rural and urban infrastructure; Environment; Responding to climate change; GIS application…

Until April 2016, VIUP successfully has organized 5 training courses on urban design and landscape, urban trees in Ha Noi, Da Nang, Hochiminh city and granted the certifications to about 600 turns of the trainees who are the staffs from construction departments, planning institutes, urban management divisions, people’s committee in provinces, cities, universities, consulting companies in the whole country.
