The World Bank continues to support the Safe Water Supply project in the Mekong Delta

Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Dinh Toan worked with the National Director of the World Bank (WB) in Vietnam, Ousmane Dione on the Safe Water Supply Project in the Mekong Delta on February 6th.

Director Ousmane Dione affirmed that the World Bank would continue to support Vietnam in implementing the Safe Water Supply Project in the Mekong Delt

During the meeting, Director Ousmane Dione affirmed that the World Bank would continue to support the Ministry of Construction and Vietnam to implement the Safe Water Supply Project for the Mekong Delta: “This is an extremely urgent job. Vietnam will have to deal with water supply problems for the Mekong Delta”.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Dinh Toan and Director Ousmane Dione agreed that the project should be divided into several stages.
 

Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Dinh Toan hoped that the World Bank would continue to support Vietnam in implementing the Safe Water Supply project in the Mekong Delta.

Phase 1 should be implemented in the most difficult provinces such as Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang ... Those are the provinces that are ready to prepare the fastest, the best and also facing with the most serious water crisis.

The MoC and the WB need to have a broader view for planning of safe water supply system for the whole Mekong Delta region in phase 2. In the coming time, the WB will directly work with localities to find out aspirations of each province.
 

Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Dinh Toan presented a gift to the Country Director of the World Bank in Vietnam Ousmane Dione on the occasion of the Rat of New Year.

Also in this working session, Deputy Minister Nguyen Dinh Toan asked the World Bank to provide comments on architectural management regulations for localities in the Law on Architecture passed by the Vietnam National Assembly in October 2019. Director Ousmane Dione said that the World Bank would appoint the Urban Committee of the Bank to work with the Ministry of Construction.
