The new Laos National Assembly Building was built by Vietnam
The new Laos National Assembly Building is built on the foundation of the old National Assembly house at Thatluang Square, the center of Vientiane with area of 7000 m2 including 1 basement and 5 floors. Due to the special nature of the project, the project has 2 steering committees, 2 project management boards, 2 design consultants and 2 supervision consultants from Vietnam and Laos-Japan. This is the place where meetings of the Lao National Assembly took place and the working place of National Assembly leaders, experts and office staffs. The project also has many flexible spaces to serve domestic and international delegations, meetings, training sessions, and important events and ceremonies of Laos.
The Laos National Assembly House was inspired by the current national flag and designed in the traditional architectural style; the combination of new construction materials with traditional materials such as tile roofs, natural wood, stone ... both showed similarities with the architectural tastes of the Laos people, and a rich cultural identity of Laos.
At the Acceptance Ceremony, the parties also agreed to evaluate the Project as an existing, realistic and vivid proof contributing to further building the great friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
