VUPA Awards are presented by the Vietnam Urban Development Planning Association (VUPDA) with the awards first debuting in 2018. This prestigious award in urban planning has gained patronage from the Prime Minister as well as the Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The award has gained an influential position in the national award system specializing in urban planning and development in Vietnam.
A total of 4 special prizes, 18 gold, 16 silver, 25 bronze and 25 consolation prizes were also presented to other outstanding entries at an awarding ceremony. They were selected from more than 180 entries sent to the organising board in five categories of construction planning projects, completed projects, publications on planning, urban development management, and urban environmental quality.

Among these prizes, Vietnam institute for Urban and Rural Planning (VIUP) won 15 prizes including 1 special, 2 gold, 5 silver, 5 bronze and 2 consolation prizes. Especially, VIUP received the special prize for the ‘Master plan for conservation and promotion of President Ho Chi Minh memorial site in Nghe An Province’ in cooperation with DE-SO ASIA JSC. 2 gold-prize projects are “Detailed planning of residential area on Tri Nguyen island, Vinh Nguyen ward, Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province (Scale 1/500) and An Binh 2 Star Urban Area (An Binh City) – Ha Noi.
These prizes affirm the role of VIUP in planning consultancy as well as contribute to encouraging VIUP's young planners for planning and urban - rural development in Vietnam. This is also great achievements gained by VIUP’s staffs to celebrate 65th anniversary of VIUP foundation.
