At the meeting, Deputy Director Luu Duc Cuong introduced briefly structures, functions and duties of VIUP as well as projects cooperated with international consultants in recent years.
Mr. Kwang lk Wang expressed his sincere thanks to VIUP’s leader who spent the time to receive the delegation. He said, in October 2015, in Hanoi, Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) signed the Record of Disscussion on Technical Assistance Project for establishment of Vietnam Green city master plan. The technical assistance project for establishment of Vietnam green city master plan, supported by Korea Government through KOICA within 3 years from 2015, will be implemented in 2 cities namely Yen Binh (Thai Nguyen province) and Rach Gia (Kien Giang province). The project aims at creating a sustainable urban development and implementing the National Strategy for Green Growth of Vietnam Government. After knowing that VIUP will be proposed by MOC to be one participant of the project, the delegation wants to have official meeting with the VIUP and discuss cooperation contents as well as mechanism of the project. He also had introduction about 4 korean organizations participating in the project.
Mr. Lee, Dong Youn – Director of JUNGDO UIT presented some concrete contents of the project. After that, the VIUP’s Deputy Director appreaciated that this project is very necessary to Vietnam. Among these, with experiences and abilities in the fields of research, training, cooperation with international organizations to make the plans, VIUP is ready to participate in some contents such as legal consulting on Green City law and institutions; developing Green City index of Vietnam; presenting urban planning guidelines; applying pilot study in Yen Binh (Thai Nguyen province) and Rach Gia city (Kien Giang province); training officials. However, Mr. Cuong asked the Korean side to propose Vietnam’s MOC the role and participation range of Vietnam’s units. VIUP will be implemented the tasks assigned by the MOC.
Two sides also discussed some concerned issues and agreed to choose a contact person for the project.
