VIUP leader attends the scientific conference “Model of green urban villages” in Da Lat

Mr. Ngo Trung Hai – Director of Vietnam Institute for Urban and Rural Planning (VIUP) attended the conference and presented a speech with the title “Selecting the place to build the models of green urban villages in Da Lat city”.

The speech addresses on definition of the model of green urban villages; criteria of green urban villages, theory for selecting green urban villages; suggesting some suitable sites for founding green urban villages; international and Vietnamese experiences.

The director introduced 7 criteria of green urban villages applied in European Union, 4 ones in ASEAN and 6 ones in Vietnam including

Criterion No 1: Sustainable construction planning site;

Criterion No 2: Using green resources, energy and technology;

Criterion No 3: Qualified architectural environment, living environment

Criterion No 4: Synchronous infrastructure and continuous link with inner areas

Criterion No 5: Effects of natural and humanity environment

Criterion No 6: Preservation, restoration, inheritance and promotion of vernacular cultural values in combination with tourist development

Depending on 6 criteria of green village in Vietnam, planning projects (construction planning/regional planning/new rural planning), transportation hubs to bring village products into the market as well as capacity to attract the investment and the factors of creating sustainable urban village, the author suggests some suitable places for building the models of the green village in Da Lat such as: CĂM LY MĂNG LIN green urban area, Ha Dong flower village; Thai Phien flower village; green urban village in Phi Nom satellite towns; green urban village in Xuan Truong residential areas. These will be the places for planting flowers, vegetable, fruits, feedings as well as high-tech agricultural development and tourism advertisement.

The opinions of scientists, specialists in the conference considered as bases for Lam Dong province to compile the criteria, finish the model of “green urban village – future of extended Da Lat”.
