Scientific research on the process of transition from rural to urban on a large scale in suburban areas around big cities has been mentioned quite a lot in developed countries from many different angles. In the urban planning, many topics have been systematically studied from concepts, characteristics to spatial structure models, suburban development in relation to urban core centers... This article is to analyze some urbanization models of suburban areas of some countries in the world, which are valuable lessons for Vietnam in the process of urbanization. The article addresses the development planning models of suburban areas of some countries in the world such as: The US, France, Japan, the suburban management model - urban accumulation is taking place in China.
